A Different Cemetery

Connan responded quietly.

"You fight yourself; you don't fight for love."

she took a step closer "then tell me how do you fight for love, fighting creates death and that's not love, only love of war."

Connan laughed. Bitter. "You think I know? Do I look like a lover, to you?"

she stepped back " Ah, so you have never known love ether" she said " you have never know what it is to have and hold a woman in your arms as i have not a man" she said "and you preach to me of fighting for love how if you have never known it"

Connan laughed, as if he was on the point of crying.

"You're naive. That's not all love is. My friends, the ones I buried, I lead them for years, and we had a bond that is love more than what you describe. I slept around, sure - I woke up next to people I knew had my back as I had theirs, and that was- they were, worth fighting for. But you know what? They're all dead anyway."

she shook her head "your talking about respect and honor, not love they did what they did out of duty, duty to you" her skin now pale as she felt her shelf shake.

"No, I'm not. You're thinking romance, and there was that too; but still. All dead now."

she wrapped her arms around herself she could feel the hunger deep inside her rise again "you think your the only one who has see there loved ones die" she said "I watched as my family were slaughtered and i could do nothing but watch" she leaned forward to pick up her cloak but instead fell to her knees.

"I didn't claim to be the only one, not once. As for you, you need to eat. It seems once a day isn't enough."

Taking his knife, he filled the candle holder again with his blood.

she looked up at him "considering i haven't eaten before your blood for six days i am surprised i lasted this long" she said taking the bowl from him as she sat on her cloak. Once finished she placed it beside her.

Connan shrugged.

"You are going to have to find a way to manage it, you realize."

She looked up at him "I know and will eventually" she said " I have survived this long with out your help" after a moment she stood back up taking her cloak with her turning she looked at him.

Tucking his hands into his pockets, he met her eyes.

"I know, and I commend you for that. I was not calling you dependent; just advising you find a way to stop the pain."

as she stood she spoke softly "as must you." her face soft and now pink her lips red as a rose.

Connan grimaced.

"I will. Eventually."

she walked over to him placing her hand on his chest over his heart " Then let me help you" she asked

Eyes dead, he said "The only way to fix that thing would be to tear it out entirely."

she let her hand slip from him "that i can not do"she said " for it would mean you to take a stake to mine"

"Probably would. I'm not asking you to kill me."

Jessica looked at him "our paths have crossed for what reason i don't know nor do i , i just hope they will cross again" she said

Connan said "Small world, so it's likely. I'll keep my ears open for a cure, shall I?"

Jessica sighed "their is no cure only acceptance , if i accept it i become dead to all" she said the cloak pulled around her slender frame hiding her scars once again

"You said before you'd try to find one; what, so you're giving up?"

she looked up at him "like i have a choice i have searched every where since i escaped i am hunted by humans and vampires"

"So hunt back, damnit. What are you going to do, give up on humanity? On yourself?"
