Di's Hideout

"He might've lost his touch a little bit," she said coldly, "older vampires sometimes do, and he's almost six centuries."

"Doesn't matter. I'm going to kill him."

"Well... for him, you'll have to fight me. You can have the others."

Connan snarled. "I'll probably kill you, too. A necessary evil, Di."

"Thanks," she said, downing another glass of scotch, "but if it came down to a fight, we've already figured who would win. Even with those weapons."

"Again you think I care. If I take you, or him with me... that's vindication enough."

Connan stood - he was barely able to, but did it anyway.

"It's time to start the search."

"Before we do that, you need to eat. If you won't agree to resting, at least agree to eating."

"Compromise. I'll eat as I walk. Let's move."

"Right," she said, standing up. She stretched and then started walking up the stairs.

"We'll have to stop somewhere for food though, I don't keep human food here. For obvious reasons."

"Alright, I understand now let's go!"

Walking towards the door, he grimaced with every step, but fought the pain down.

She rolled her eyes.

"Stubbornass," she said, walking up the stairs, "you do realize we're still in vampire town, right? And you still smell like a goddamn side dish, to put it bluntly."

Growling through clenched teeth, Connan said "So what would *you* suggest then?"

"I would suggest you rest until you stop smelling like a side dish," she said, raising an eyebrow, "or at least until dawn. I can move during the day-most of Daemon's minions can't."

Throwing himself into a chair with a wince, thoroughly pissed off, he said "Fine."

She looked at him and sighed. He had already seen what she could do; she might as well use her gifts for something constructive.

"Will you let me heal you?"

"If you insist; just remember, if you use *this* to kill me, you're a fuckin' coward."
