"No," he said, "though if you try to use your full power, you will have to believe it; for even I have a mark of my own, when I gained my power."

He showed her his left wrist; this was not the arm he had put in front of her earlier. On it was... well, to put it simply, The Dark Mark.

she moved and at down "what are these power I'm suppose to have?" she asked softer her face looking up at him.

"I do not know entirely just yet," he said, "for it is rare to stumble upon one that has special talent. I know of only four others, and I know of all the vampires throughout the country. I suspect, however, that at least one of them involves turning your nails to claws."

Jessica looked at her hands the mere thought of doing such a thing turned her stomach but suddenly they did turn, her nails became sharp as claws , her face became panicked as she held them up to him "how do i change them back?" she asked

"You just think about turning them back. That gives me some idea of your powers; I think you may also have the ability to heal."

quickly she thought about her nails being normal and right before her eyes they did, much to her relief.
Jessica stood up her head spun with questions she kept stopping and looking at him but never spoke.

"I can answer all your questions," he said quietly, "I can help you. I can train you. And together we can stand against them."

Jessica stopped and looked at him "yet you still haven't given me the one thing i seek" she said "with all the power you have you can not sense what i need "

"And what, pray tell, is that?" he asked, meeting her eyes.

she looked deep into his eyes "if you can not see it then you don't have it in your heart" she said a tear rolling down her cheek

He wiped away the tear, "then it is love; I do not like to make assumptions in that domain."

Jessica felt his hand wipe the tear away " The love was ripped from my heart the day i was taken , i have never felt ..." she paused " No..I have never know what it is to be loved yet i feel it warm as a summer breeze soft as ... the arms of a lovers embrace"

He lifted her chin and met her eyes.

"It is in all of our natures to seek love; to seek acceptance."

she looked up at him "then why have i not found it or it me" she said

"Love is harder to find than to seek," he said, "and love is something that grows; not something instantly achieved once the love is first seen."

Jessica looked up at him "you saying if i stop looking for it, it will still come in time" she said her hand now resting on his arm.

"It will find you," he said, "for it is much easier to find one who lies in wait then to find one who is always moving about on their own search."

Jessica looked at him her blue eyes sparkling like sapphires "Teach" she said as a smile crossed her face.

He smiled.

"That I can do."

her smile grew to a grin "you have an ally and a student" she said her hand still resting on his arm

"The first lesson," he said, "is that we need to go inside before the sun comes up; eventually you can train to have an immunity to it, but that takes practice. And lots of it."

Jessica looked around "but where, there is nowhere here" she said

"Come with me," he said, "I have many places in which to hide."

carefully she let her hand slip to his "we'd better go now the suns almost starting to rise" she said

"Indeed."

He raised the barrier around them again and a moment later they were flying throughout the air.
